The 2014 State Championships were held Thursday Feb 27 through Saturday March 1.  The 3 Centerville wrestlers were well supported by teammates, parents coaches and alumnae, over 40 Elks wrestlers, fans and family attended through the exciting weekend.

All 3 Centerville wreslters, Troy Barklay 113, Alexander Bair 160 and Conan Jennings 285 won their opening match.   This allowed an early dinner celebration and plenty of time to rest for the up coming Friday matches.  


Troy Barklay faced the eventual tournament runner-up, Rodriguez of Perry in round 2.  Troy lost 15-2 and moved to the consolation bracket.  Round 3 pitted Barklay against Guillen of Perrysburg.   Guillen beat Troy and went on to place 3rd over all.   Troy ended his senior season 40-10, a League Champion, a Sectional Champion, and State Qualifier.  

Alexander Bair beat Polllitt of Olentangy  5-4 in Round 2.   Alexander face the eventual champion Dailey of Perry in the semi-finals.  Alexander lost by decision 10-3.   His next match the consolation semi-finals was against Stencel of Oregon Clay.  Stencel won the match and Bair moved to the 5th/6th placement match.   Alexander ended his senior year 47-9, League Champion, Sectional Champion, State Qaulifier and State Placer (6th).

Conan Jenning wrestled Vough of Elyria in round 2.  In what was his most commanding performance, Conan won 6- 2.    Jennings faced Urban of Wiloughby South in the semifinals.  Conan's victory in the semifinals put him into the finals for a rematch against Alten of Loveland for the 6th time this year.  Conan ended his Senior season 38-6, League Champion, Sectional Champion, State Qualifier, State Placer and State Runner-up.   

The boys combined performance lead to a 14th place team finish out of 88 attending teams.

5 Centerville wrestlers were named to the All Area 1st team.    The award banquet was sponsored by the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association (GMVWA).  The association awarded a scholarship to Cameron Crasto and Alexander Bair.

Centerville was name Division I Team of the year for the third year in a row.  

St Paris Graham Local was named Division II Team of the year for the 15th consecutive year.

This spring Olympic wrestler and renown coach Nate Carr will bring his knowledge and experience to wrestlers at Centerville High School. 

Coach Carr is an Olympic Freestyle Medalist, World Cup Champion, Good Will Champion, Pan American Games Champion, Three Time USA Open Champion,  NCAA National Champion, and JR National Freestyle Champion. 

He will be joined in coaching by many of the Centerville High School wrestling   staff members as well. This club will teach all wrestlers how to improve their technique and their minds to find success in Olympic styles of wrestling. The     skills gained in training for the Olympic styles are easily transferred to Folk style.

This exciting opportunity will be housed in the Centerville High School wrestling room. CHS is located at 500 East Franklin Street, Centerville OH, 45459. It is conveniently located near major exists of I-75 and 675.

All wrestlers are welcome, no matter age or experience. Everyone can find something here which will raise their game to the next level.
